Karmann Jean - Knitted Cactus Inside a Frame (New Etsy Listing)

Hello everyone,
Firstly I need to apologise as I got a bit confused as to when I was supposed to do a blog post, so I am sorry that this post is late but I totally forgot which week I was on (May is a big month for birthdays in my family). As I knew that I would be adding a new Etsy listing soon, I thought I would just hold off an extra week and just do a post then - which is what this blog post is all about.
So if you didn't already know last Thursday I added my knitted cactus inside a frame to my Etsy shop. And below is a little explanation all about them, like always I have separated the information up into smaller sections to hopefully make it clearer. If you don’t like reading the full length of my blog (which I know can get a bit long) below is a link to my new listing. However I am hoping that this blog post will explain the designs/colours better as I am limited to how much I can put on Etsy.

Background information:
Hopefully you will already know that I have knitted initials inside frames over on my Etsy shop and one of the main reasons that I came up with that  idea was because I wanted to make knitting become an all year round item and not just associated with winter woolly hats. Hence why I went down the interiors route but I didn’t want to do the typical cushions route (although in the future I do want to make some soft furnishings). I wanted to make something new which I hadn’t seen before, yes there are a lot of box frames out there but the majority of them are prints and not knitting. So hopefully I’ve spotted a gap in the market. In the beginning when I came up with the frames idea, I also wanted to do knitted motifs and designs like the cactus I have now, but I decided to do the letters first as I thought they would be easier for me to do in the way of time and learning how to do intarsia. I’ve planned out a whole collection of different designs and patterns for my knitted frames, so this is hopefully just the beginning of this mini collection. I’m hoping the next design will be announced within the next 2 weeks.

About:
My knitted cactus inside frames are very similar to my knitted letters inside frames, and similar to them there isn’t that much I can explain about them as their title is pretty self-explanatory. However here is some key information about them:
-       Each cactus is made to order by me using my knitting machine and the technique of intarsia knitting.
-       They are either available in either a white or black frame.
-       The frame can be hung or self-standing, making it perfect for a desk/shelf as well as wall decoration.
-       Perfect for any knitting lover or plant/cactus lover.

Designs:
There are 3 different designs/patterns available for my knitted cacti (which are available in different colours) the 3 designs are:
-       Plain – standard cactus shape with no pattern just block colour for the cactus and its plant pot.
-       Stripes – to resemble some of the patterns that can be found on some cacti.
-       Spots – to resemble spikes which are often found on cacti

To make things clearer when ordering (also because I am only allowed two variations on Etsy which is where you get to choose colours ect.) I have decided to create set designs per colours and patterns. The cacti’s that are available are: (the designs available are also made clearer in the pictures at the ends of the blog).
-       Design 1 – plain cactus in the colour pistachio. Select 1(plain p)
-       Design 2 – plain cactus in the colour green grass. Select 2(plain gg)
-       Design 3 – plain cactus in the colour khaki. Select 3(plain khaki)
-       Design 4 – stripy cactus in the colours green grass and khaki. Select 4(stripe gg&k)
-       Design 5 – stripy cactus in the colours pistachio and khaki. Select 5(stripe p&k)
-       Design 6 – stripy cactus in the colours green grass and pistachio. Select 6(stripe gg&p)
-       Design 7 – spotty cactus in the colours green grass and lemon. Select 7(spots gg&l)
-       Design 8 – spotty cactus in the colours pistachio and lemon. Select 8(spots p&l)
-       Design 9 – spotty cactus in the colours pistachio and khaki. Select 9(spots p&k)
-       Design 10 – spotty cactus in the colours khaki and lemon. Select 10(spots k&l)

Colours:
Unlike many of my other items where I have lots of different colours available, I have decided to use only a select few colours for a select few designs. However that doesn’t mean that I am not willing to switch things up if you want, if you have any changes that you would like to make please message me and we can discuss this further. The colour of yarns that I use is:
-       White – standard white yarn used for the back ground.
-       Copper – orangey/brown used for the plant pot.
-       Pistachio – light green
-       Grass green – bright green
-       Khaki – dark green
-       Lemon – pale yellow, used in many of the spotty designs to resemble cactus spikes.

Similar to my knitted letters inside frames, my knitted cacti are available to be inside either a black or white frame, depending on which you prefer and which will suit the room it is intended for.

Size:
-       The frame size is: width 18cm, height 23cm, depth 3cm
-       Picture size is: width 14.5cm, height 19.5cm
(Both are approximate sizes)

Materials:
-       The knitting is made out of 100% acrylic and to help support the knitting I have added 100% calico cotton to the back of it to help it stay flat and in shape.
-       The frame is made out of painted wood with a glass front and white cardboard mount.

Price:
These frames are £12 plus postage which will be shown below.

Delivery:
Postage for the UK is £2.90, unless you live in Bridgnorth then please message me instead of ordering through Etsy as I can hand deliver to you for free. Unfortunately at the time being these frames are only available for the UK, until I can sort out overseas prices, although if you would really like a frame please message me where you are from and I can look into postage further for you.

Processing time:
Over on Etsy I have put that the processing time (making time) for these frames are 1-2 weeks the same as my hats but like my hats I always aim to have them sent out as soon as possible. I mainly say 1-2 weeks just in case I have a back log of orders or I have to put in an order for yarn, which can take a few days to arrive as I don’t have any yarn shops or haberdasheries by me.

Where you can buy from:
You can either shop from my Etsy shop (links will be at the end of the blog) or if you live in Bridgnorth then message me as this way you can save on delivery charges. All my links will be at the end of my blog post for ways that you can get in contact with me.

Well I think that is it, I feel like a lot of this has just been repeated from my last blog post about my knitted letters inside frames as they are pretty much the same except from the knitted design. I must admit I did copy and paste a few bits but the pricing and delivery is the same for both items so why not copy what I’ve already done. Anyway I hope you like my new item; I’d love to hear what you think.  it’s been so hard trying to keep quiet about it and not share all my ideas out, when I first had the idea months ago all I wanted to do was tell you, so I’m sorry that I had to keep quite but I am so excited for you to see what’s to come next.
Again I am sorry about the break in my blog posts, I was trying my best but sometimes life just gets away with you and I genuinely forgot which week I was on. However I am going to try my best to keep up with my once every two weeks upload.
I have quite a few new knitted frame ideas which I am hoping to be up soon, so there might not be many textiles based blogs more product explanation blog posts. However I am perhaps thinking of doing an intarsia blog update as unlike my knitted letters my knitted cactus have been knitted without floats, which is how intarsia is meant to be knitted. But I might see how I get on with my other designs first, cause then I will have had more practice. Anyway keep your eyes peeled for hopefully new Etsy listings over the next few weeks. The best way to know when I have a new listing or blog post is probably on Instagram, as I am a lot more active on there (the link will be below) so make sure you are following me, you’ll also get to see lots of in process/working photos, giving you a little insight into how I make my products.

As always thank you so much for reading and supporting me,
Love Karmann jean
