Karmann Jean: Etsy Update - Knitted Elephants & Mermaids Inside Frames

EDIT: Sorry but for some reason there seems to be different fonts for different sections, throughout this blog post. I'm not too sure why this has happened and for some reason nothing i do changes it. So I'm very sorry about this.

Hello Everyone,
I hope you are all doing well, it feels like ages since my last blog post so I hope you are all doing well and still enjoying this lovely sunshine that we are having. I can’t believe that it is still so hot, are we really in England. And for the football fans out there (like me) how great is the World Cup, I can’t believe that we are through to the semi-finals, not going to lie I did get a bit emotional. Come on England, it really is coming home!!!
Even though I could talk about the World Cup for ages this isn’t why your here, so I’ll get on with this post. Since the last time we spoke I have added two new listings up on Etsy and you know how I like to do a show and tell slash explanation post about my new listings, hence what this blog post is about. I’m hoping that it won’t be too confusing or long but I am going to talk about the two new listings in one blog post then rather split them up. As they are both part of my knitted frames collection, I am not going to separate them out into two separate blogs as a lot of the information about them are the same and I will just be repeating myself. Hopefully it will all make sense as you read. And I’ll apologise now for the huge amount of photos at the end.
If you didn’t already know this blog post is about my two new latest items in my knitted frames collection:
- Knitted elephants inside frames
- Knitted mermaids inside frames
I also have knitted cacti and letters in my collection already; you can click this link if you want to see what else is in my Etsy shop.

Back ground information:
When I first had my idea of having knitting inside frames I knew that I wanted to make lots of different designs which people could use to decorate their house. I had lots of different themes and I still have lots of different designs drawn out that are just waiting to be tested, but one of my favourite ideas was my little elephants. I had lots of other animals that I wanted to try first but I fell in love with my little elephants and knew that I wanted to do them first. And who doesn’t love elephants. As far as my mermaid design goes I knew that they were a huge trend right now, so I knew that I had to try it. However I was quite hesitant as I was worried about the shaping and detail needed, as I am still quite new to intarsia knitting and creating patterns. But now I think it might actually be my favourite design, I am so happy with the outcome, they actually look like mermaids.

About:
As this initial idea has turned into a bit of a collection a lot of the information about them are the same, the only difference really is the actual design that is knitted. So if you have read about my other frames you will already know a lot of this but some key information about them is: (applies to all four of my knitted frames):
-       Each design is made to order by me using my knitting machine and the technique of intarsia knitting.
-       They are either available in either a white or black frame. However the mermaid design is only available in white unless you request a black frame. Having a black frame is fine, it is just that on Etsy I am limited to how any options I can have so instead of having separate listings you just need to request a black frame in the notes/message section when checking out. (Etsy only allows two variations which I need for you to select the body& hair colours as well as the outfit colours).
-       The frame can be hung or self-standing, making it perfect for a desk/shelf as well as wall decoration.
-       Perfect for any nursey/children’s room or any room really as I have got some of my frames up in my knitting studio/shed. They are a great way of getting knitting into the home without it being winter.
-       For many of the designs they have set colours/designs; however that doesn’t mean you have to have them like that, I am open to colour requests. Just message me and we can discuss a custom order further.
-       All of my knitted designs have a white back ground (expect for my knitted letters). However again I am open to changing this, like before just message me and we can discuss this further.

Designs:
Elephants:
There are three different designs for my elephants, and in the way of designs I mean colour ways:
-       Design 1 – silver and grey (silver elephant with grey outline)
-       Design 2 – grey and black (grey elephant with black outline)
-       Design 3 – silver and black (silver elephant with black outline)
The colours available are explained below as well as showed in the photos.

Mermaids:
All the mermaids have the same design but I haven’t given them set a colour ways like many of my other frames, instead you get free range of skin, hair and outfit colours. Which are explained below and shown in the photos at the end.

Colours:
Elephants:
-       White
-       Silver – light grey/silver
-       Black
-       Grey – darker grey (but not a really dark grey like slate, it is more of a middle toned grey but it is darker than the silver yarn).

Mermaids:
-       Aspen – turquoise, depending on the light it can look more blue or green
-       Apricot – peachy colour
-       Black
-       Candyfloss – light, baby pink
-       Fiesta – hot, bright pink
-       Fondant – middle toned bubble-gum pink
-       Lemon – pale yellow
-       Mocha – light brown
-       Sherbet – light, baby blue
-       Spice – orange
-       Walnut – dark brown
-       Wisteria – light purple

Disclaimer: the colour names used are not the names that I have given them; it is the names provided by the yarn company. So please so not be offended by hair/body colour names, they have not been used to be offending, I just haven’t changed the names, so that I don’t get confused when making them.

Size:
All of my frames are the same size; however as the elephant design is landscape, so please keep in mind that the height and width length are swapped around.
-       The frame size is: width 18cm, height 23cm, depth 3cm
-       Picture size is: width 14.5cm, height 19.5cm
(Both are approximate sizes)

Materials:
-       The knitting is made out of 100% acrylic and to help support the knitting I have added 100% calico cotton to the back of it to help it stay flat and in shape.
-       The frame is made out of painted wood with a glass front and white cardboard mount.

Price:
Both of these frames are £12 plus postage which will be shown below.

Delivery:
Postage for the UK is £2.90, unless you live in Bridgnorth then please message me instead of ordering through Etsy as I can hand deliver to you for free. Unfortunately at the time being these frames are only available for the UK, until I can sort out overseas prices. Although if you would really like a frame please message me where you are from and I can look into postage further for you.

Processing time:
Over on Etsy I have put that the processing time (making time) for these frames are 1-2 weeks the same as my hats but like my hats I always aim to have them sent out as soon as possible. I mainly say 1-2 weeks just in case I have a back log of orders or I have to put in an order for yarn, which can take a few days to arrive as I don’t have any yarn shops or haberdasheries by me. Sorry.

Where you can buy from:
You can either shop from my Etsy shop (links will be at the end of the blog) or if you live in Bridgnorth then message me as this way you can save on delivery charges. All my links will be at the end of my blog post for ways that you can get in contact with me.

That is it I hope it’s not too confusing and I’m sorry that it is very repetitive of past blog post, but as I explained before the only different in my frames is the knitted design. Everything else is the same, so I’m sorry but I copied a lot of my last blog post. Anyway I hope you enjoyed this blog I know that it’s probably not the most interesting but I hope you like my new items. I’d love to hear what you think, the response so far has been great and there will be lots more designs to come. However I am having a little break from them and concentrating on getting my Christmas stocking ready to relaunch. Yes I know its July but I have seen quite a few sellers already getting Christmas sales, and I have got a few things that I want to try out first.
I am sorry again that this blog post is a week late but I will try my best to get better at sticking to my schedule. I know I always say this but sometimes the business as to take priority and I was busy getting my mermaids ready, so please forgive me. Unless I get my stockings ready my next blog post will be a little bit different to usual. Hopefully you will enjoy it and hopefully by the next time we speak England will have won the world cup. Come on England! It’s coming home! I cannot get that song out of my head, but I am not complaining I love this song. Not going to lie, I am really going to miss it when its finished I have watched every game so far, don’t worry I have been knitting whilst watching, except England, they are too important/tense at times to do anything else. I mean did you see the Columbia game, I was literally watching through my fingers at the end.
Anyway I think that is it, thank you so much for reading and I’m sorry its very samey samey to my last blog post. And also thank you for supporting and for the great response you always give me to any new Etsy listing I have, I really appreciate you.
Again thank you so much for reading,
Love Karmann jean.
