Karmann Jean: My Etsy Shops First Birthday, Sale & Competition

Hello Everyone.

I hope you are all well and you might be wondering why there is a blog post today. I normally like to post on a Monday, but I was quite busy that day, sorting out my Etsy shop getting it ready for this sale that I am going to talk about. Now you might be thinking well why not wait till next Monday, and I could have but I also want to explain about my competition and the winner will be announced on that Monday, so I thought today would be better so that it can give anyone who hasn’t had chance to enter it time to do so.

If you didn’t already know Wednesday marked a whole year since I opened my Etsy shop, and I cannot believe how far my little business has come along. I can’t believe that I have been making and selling things for a year. It was slow going, I don’t think I had my first sale on Etsy till about 2 months after opening, but I am still overwhelmed as to how far I have come. Which is all down to you, thank you so much for everything you do for me, I really appreciate all your support for reading this blog, following, likening, commenting, messaging and ordering from me. I really appreciate everything you do.
And to any other markers and sellers out there like me I just want to say keep going, you can do it, I know at times you can go through some dry spells but it will all work out in the end. At the beginning my mum was really quite worried as it took a while for my Etsy shop to take off but now she gets so excited every time I get a order. Everyone is different you might have gotten lots of sale straight away or it might take you a little longer but that doesn't mean that you have failed or what you make is rubbish. I just want to tell you it will be ok and it will happen for you. You might not have lots of sales straight away but maybe that's because the right customer hasn't come along yet, it just takes that one customer and they could tell everyone about your shop or become a regular customer. So please hang in there, don't give up! What you make is truly unique and special just like you.
Now if you didn’t already know to celebrate my first birthday I currently have a little sale over on my Etsy shop, a new listing with a free item and a competition, which I will explain all about below.

Competition:

If you haven't already seen I am currently running a competition/giveaway over on my Facebook and Instagram where you have the opportunity to win either one of my adults pompom bobble hats or 4 of my knitted scrunchies.

Key information/rules:

- There will be two winners, one from Facebook and one from Instagram, so if you want to you can enter both. I’ll add the links to enter below.

- The winners will be announced on this upcoming Monday. Not too sure what time yet, but I will update you on the day.

- You get to choose which item you would like (either a hat or 4 scrunchies)

- UK only (I will hopefully have one including international places one day)

- To enter all you have to do is like the post and comment which item and which colour/s you would like to win.

- Over on Instagram there is two places that you can enter but you don’t have to enter both, you can only have one entry per platform. For example if you comment on my Instagram post and story, that is still only one entry. But if you comment on my Instagram and Facebook then you have entered twice as there will be a winner from each.

- The colours that you have to choose from will be on the posts and you don’t have to stick to the colour options for example if you want a scrunchie colour but as a hat then that is fine, just make sure to state the colour you want when entering the competition.

- Everyone who enters will be given a number and the two winners (with separate groups of numbers for the two social media platforms) will be chosen via a random number generator.

Sale:

To help celebrate my shops first birthday/anniversary I have decided to have a little sale on a few of my items. Since it is my first time having a sale, except from taking part in Fiver Friday sometimes, I have decided to give 10% off. It might not be a huge discount but I hope that you can understand it is my first time so I am testing it out and maybe in the future I will off bigger sales. Below is an explanation of what items are on sale and their new prices.

Items on sale:

- Knitted pompom bobble hats was £8 now £7.20

- Knitted beanie (no pompom) was £8 now £7.20

- Baby’s knitted pompom bobble hats was £5 now £4.50

- Matching mum and me hats was £12 now £10.80

All of the items will have postage to be added to them which will either be £1, £1.50 or £2.90 depending on which item you have chosen.

New listing/free item:

After doing an Instagram story poll a while ago I asked if you would prefer a sale or a free item and a lot of people chose a free item so I have created a new listing where if you buy an adults pompom bobble hat you can get a free knitted scrunchie. So this listing is £8 the original price of my hats and you get a free scrunchie which are usually £2 each. You can have matching coloured scrunchie and hat or different it is totally up to you. And like with the competition you can swap the colours so if you want a scrunchie colour but as a hat that if fine, you can either message me to discuss this or select any colours from the options available but make sure to put the actually colours that you want in the notes section when checking out.

For anyone who is unclear I hope that both my sale and competition now make sense. I’m still amazed and so proud that people actually like my knitting. I still get a buzz when anyone orders or my Etsy app makes a noise. I honestly cant thank you enough. New listing buy a knitted pompom bobble hat and get a free scrunchie, you don't have to have the same colours you can mix them, the colours here are lemon and pistachio. Both are examples that you can have a scrunchie colour has a hat even though it is not an option on my Etsy shop.
