Karmann Jean: Knitted Christmas Stockings

Hello Everyone,
I feel like this is how I always start my blog post but I need to apologies for there not being a blog post last week, as I explained in the last blog post this might have happened as it was my birthday weekend so I was busy with family and therefore couldn’t prepare for it. And on the actual Monday it was the five year anniversary since we picked up my dog from the RSPCA. Which we class as his birthday, so I was busy hugging him all day. You might be thinking well why didn't you just do it on Tuesday and yes I probably should have, but I really wanted to finish off my latest Etsy listing, so that I could get it up. So again I’m sorry that it’s late.
Now if you couldn’t already tell this weeks blog post is all about my latest Etsy listing which are my Christmas stockings (another reason why I had to hold off the blog post). Yes it is only august and is for some too early for Christmas but last year as it was my first time opening my Etsy shop, I was a bit late to the Christmas party. So this is why I have got my Christmas items up very early. Saying that it has felt very strange going back and knitting the items that started off this whole Karmann Jean journey. I can’t believe that my little shop has nearly been open for a year, and I just want to thank you all for supporting me, whether that’s through sales, likes, comments, following or reading this blog. Thank you so much for supporting me and my little business I really appreciate it.
If you have been following me from the start you might remember that I have already done a Christmas stocking blog post, so I’m sorry that you’ll be reading this again but I do have some new patterns/colours and you know how I like to do a blog post about my new item. It means that I am able to show you more photos then Etsy allows. As a lot of my items are the same as in they are all Christmas stockings, I will summarise the information about them up here and then separate them below in there mini collections for their photos. If you have not been on my Etsy shop recently I have added my knitted Christmas stockings which are listed as separate items depending on their design. The designs that I have are:
- Plain knitted Christmas stockings
- Thick and thin striped knitted Christmas stockings
- Snowflake patterned knitted Christmas stockings
- Doggy paw print designed knitted Christmas stockings
- Mini Christmas stockings

Key information about them:
- Every stocking is knitted by me using my knitting machine as well as being hand finished with me sewing up their seams. The patterned stockings are from a fairisle design that I planned.
- They all have the same sock style design where the cuff (top section), heel and toe sections are all a block colour.
- Every Christmas stocking comes with its own knitted hanging hook which is in the same colour as the band at the top (cuff). This means that they can be hung up on the fireplace or your bed, ready for Father Christmas to come. The mini Christmas stockings also come with a small handing hook making them perfect for hanging on doors/draw handles as well as on your Christmas tree.
- I have set colour options for you to choose from for each design but that doesn't mean you have to stick to them, I am open to any colour changes. For example last year I had a customer who requested to have four of my patterns but in white and grey (to suit her living room). So if you like my stockings but not the colours, please message me and we can discuss this further.
- Materials: Every Christmas stocking is made out of 100% acrylic. I know I’m a knitter who uses acrylic but I like to be able to create knitted items that everyone can afford (although I apologise if you think my pricing is too high).
- Size: All the different patterned Christmas stockings are approximately the same size; the only difference size wise is that the mini ones are smaller. The bigger/standard sized stockings are 45cm long and 21cm wide (approximate sizes). The mini Christmas stockings are 20cm long and 10cm wide (approximate sizes).
- Price: So that pricing is clear I will put the price of each item under its individual section below. However to give you a rough idea they range from £3-£12.
- Delivery: Same as my other items delivery in the UK is £2.90, although my mini Christmas stockings are £1 for delivery and unlike my frames my stockings are available to be delivered internationally, but you will have to check the pricing for that on my Etsy.
- Processing time - Like a lot of my items I have listed the processing time for my Christmas stockings as 1-2 weeks. The main reason is to cover myself in case I get a lot of orders and therefore run out of yarn (which is a problem as I don’t have any yarn shops or haberdasheries near me, so I have to ordered them which can take a few days). However I always try my best to get my orders out as quickly as possible. If this time concerns you we can discuss it further.

Each stocking comes with a knitted hanging hook in the same colour as its cuff (band at the top).

- 2: White & Red (red stocking with white cuff, heel and toe)

Snowflake Patterned Christmas Stockings:
Fairisle knitted snowflake Christmas stockings. This mini collection is the one that has had the most changes I have added reverse colour options, for example last year I just had the white stocking with blue snowflakes and red stocking with white snowflakes. Whereas this year I also offer them the other way around for example white Christmas stocking with red snowflakeS. If you’re confused it will make sense in the pictures below. I have also added this design to be in pink and purple, to show you that you don’t have to stick to the traditional red, white and green. Again this explanation might be a bit confusing so I'll also explain in the photos but when the snowflakes are blue, pink and purple they have had an iridescent yarn added to it when knitting, giving them an added sparkle. Which is hard to catch on camera, but when these colours are the background colour they are not iridescent. The way that the colours are listed is with the back ground colour first and the snowflake colour second.
The colour/design options available are:
- 1: White & Red (white background with red snowflakes)
- 2: White & Blue (white background with blue iridescent snowflakes)
- 3: White & Pink (white background with pink iridescent snowflakes)
- 4: White & Purple (white background with purple iridescent snowflakes)
- 5: Purple & White (purple background with white snowflakes)
- 6: Pink & White (pink background with white snowflakes)
- 7: Blue & White (blue background with white snowflakes)
- 8: Red & White (red background with white snowflakes)

Doggy Paw Print Designed Christmas Stocking:
As I talked about above I have a little pouchie and when making my Christmas stockings I couldn’t leave him out, I had to make him his own stocking too (he loves opening presents, although no matter who’s birthday it is he thinks it’s his, no presents are safe in his company). This super cute paw print design is perfect for your own little pouch or any pet lover. I have only created this in one colour design but again as I said above if you want to change the colours used then please message me. The reason why I select this colour way is I like the paw prints are white as if they are snowy paw prints.

This was right before he made a run for it. Last year he modeled  really well, but he wasn't interested this time.

Mini Christmas Stockings:
Similar to last year I have kept my supper cute mini Christmas stockings which I had to make lots for my mum as she wanted one hanging on every door handle in the house. However this time I have added a stripey option, again I have only done it in the thin white and red stripey design, but I am open to any colour changes/suggestions. If I didn't know about these they are miniature Christmas stockings (in terms of calculations on how I knit them, they are half the size). Which like I said before, can be hung on door/draw handles or on your Christmas tree. They also make great gifts if you fill them with sweets.
The colour/design options available are:
- 1: Plain (plain sock design which is a red stocking with white cuff, heel and toe)

There is only two designs/colours for these but i am open to suggestions.

So there is my Christmas stockings collection, I hope I haven't ruined your day by talking about Christmas, for me personally I love Christmas and it’s never too early to start the count down. Although over the past few weeks it has been very strange knitting Christmas stockings during the heatwave. It felt wrong to be sweating whilst making Christmas items. Anyway whether it is or isn't too early for Christmas I would still love to hear what you think about my Christmas stockings, do you like them? Which is your favourite? And are you a traditional red, white and green or do you like to switch it up with some colour? Again as it is early there probably will be more Christmassy photos of my stockings to come but that wont be until we actually put our decorations up, so I'm sorry that my backgrounds aren't that Christmassy but I just wanted to you my items  and the more Christmassy photos will happen later in the year.

Also before I forget I will be trying to personalise my Christmas stocking with initials this week, I was asked this a lot last year but I didn't have my intarsia carriage (Santa actually got me one for Christmas) so this year I will be offering them, if can do them that is. I am trialing them this week and I'll hopefully have them on Etsy soon. So if you like personalised items please be patient.

As always thank you so much for reading,

Love Karmann Jean
